Wrap up warm! Temperatures plummet as winter finally hits Ireland

Katie Mythen-Lynch

It’s time to dig out the thermals: temperatures plummeted overnight, dropping to 3C in some parts of the country, and there’s frost on the way.

The unusually mild autumn has finally given way to more seasonable weather, with Met Éireann forecasting snow in Ulster and Connacht on Saturday evening and warning of ‘biting’ winds today.

A Met Eireann forecaster confirmed the northwest of the country will see the worst of the conditions while snow “can’t be ruled out” over the Dublin mountains.

It’s colder in Ireland than it is in Moscow right now so scarves and gloves are go, folks. This is not a drill.
