Every mum can ask for help and this Humans of New York post explains why

You probably had an idea of what the hardest part of being a parent would be before you became one.

You may have thought it would be lack of sleep, exhaustion or the terrible twos.

In reality, the toughest task of being a mum is probably asking for help.

A Humans of New York post recently touched on this. It perfectly outlined why mothers shouldn’t be afraid to ask for a hand when they need it.

In the post, a brave mama said:

“It’s so hard to ask for help. Because you’re supposed to be ‘Mommy.’ And you never want to say: ‘I need help being Mommy.’”

“I didn’t want to ask other people to stop their lives. Especially if they had no part in making this baby. But eventually I had to give in.”

The mum went on to say that being a parent can be frustrating at times.

Instead of losing her temper at the people closest to her and saying “Why aren’t you helping?”, she realised she could just ask “Can you help?”.

No one wants to feel like they aren’t a good mother. But no matter how hard you try, it’s impossible to have everything under control all the time.

So don’t be afraid to reach out to someone for help just like the strong and beautiful mama in this post does.
