Jeff Brazier discusses struggle to talk to sons about mum Jade Goody’s death

Jeff Brazier has said that his sons are struggling to talk to him about their mother’s death.

The TV presenter had two children with former Big Brother star Jade Goody before she passed away in 2009.

She had been diagnosed with cervical cancer the year before. She was 27.

Jeff has said that since her death, he has tried to speak to sons Bobby and Freddie about their mother as often as he can.

However, he said that recently, the 15 and 14-year-old have almost become “resistant” to the talks.

He told The Daily Star:

“We used to have a monthly discussion about mum, but now they’re almost resistant to it.

“I need to make sure they still talk about their mum and never forget about her. I want them to continually challenge and question their grief. I don’t want them to suppress it. That’s my fear.”

Jeff, who has since written a book called the Grief Survival Guide, said that over time, speaking to his sons about Jade has become harder, not easier.

“It can be very confusing at times,” he said.

“Because where mum should be an easy conversation to bring up at this late stage, it actually becomes harder because teenagers don’t want to talk about things they’re emotionally invested in.”

Jeff married Kate Dwyer earlier this year, after eldest son Bobby said that he was glad to see his dad finally happy.

The presenter also said that the wedding wasn’t just about the two of them, but bringing their family together.

“I’m so happy to marry Kate, who has brought so much stability to my life,” he told OK!

“This isn’t just any wedding, this is a really special one.

“It doesn’t just represent Kate and I putting rings on each other’s fingers. It represents the fact that we won at something really tricky. We won at becoming a family.”
