Pregnancy specialists believe that mothers should wait a minimum of 18 months before trying to conceive again, with the perfect age gap being "2.25 years."
The researchers believe that giving your body enough time to recover from your first child is important and anything less than conceiving after 18 months could put unnecessary stress on you.
The experts also found that women who become pregnant within the first year and a half of their first baby's birth are much more likely to deliver their second baby prematurely.
The research states that there's also an increased risk in birth defects and childhood behavioural problems.
