Ah, new parenthood.
That brief window in time when you think you know everything only for your baby to turn into a toddler showing you that really you know nothing.
I think most of us had notions about how our kids would be without taking into consideration that they have free will and will probably do the opposite of what we tell them at every turn.
One new mum made a lot of other parents laugh when she posted online to say that her child would never eat off of a kids menu.
Her child would be the perfect child that always ate their sushi and sprouts and turned their nose up at the idea of eating even one single chicken nugget. Ha!
The mum posted on Facebook saying;
“So excited for XXX to start solids next month. Also being the somewhat pretentious foodie I am, he sure as hell will not be a “kids menu” kind of child. Kind of hate those things even exist.”
Sorry love but that’s what a lot of us thought until our kids hit the I only want chicken nuggets and chips phase as many other parents were quick to point out.
“I can’t wait until she has to order, through bitter tears, macaroni and cheese with a side of macaroni and cheese because that’s literally the only thing her kid will eat, anywhere. It will be glorious.”
“Just wait until her kid is a super pretentious foodie like mine and orders a grilled cheese with no cheese.”
“Get ready to join the buttered noodle club Karen.”
When my eldest was small he’d eat anything I put in front of me making me think I was super mum. Then he hit four and decided nothing but the blandest foods would do. This mum will learn the same lesson in time. Nice of her to give the rest of us a good laugh though.
