Trying to conceive, are expecting, or are breastfeeding? Avocado is GOOD!

Excellent news!

It’s easy to list off the foods you shouldn’t eat when pregnant but what about the foods you should eat? They don’t roll off the tongue so easily.

But one study is claiming that the avocado, which seems to have endless health benefits, is a must for those trying to conceive and those expecting.

According to The Cut, the authors of the study were looking into the claim that avocados can be “a unique nutrition source for pregnant and lactating women.”

It was found that the item does work well in low-glycemic and Mediterranean-style diets which are said to be good for pregnant women and those trying for a baby. These types of diets – which don’t traditionally include the avocado – are rich in antioxidants, ‘healthy’ fats and vitamins.

The experts did concede that more research would be needed but noted that “avocados offer a range of beneficial nutrients that can make a substantial contribution to a nutrient-rich diet when offered as a staple food for the periconceptional period, as well as during pregnancy and lactation.”

The study was published in the Nutrients journal.
