Self-care Sunday: 5 amazing wellness products to treat yourself to this month

Trine Jensen-Burke

self-care Sunday

It’s what Sunday evenings were made for.

Us mamas are always so busy looking after other people, especially our little ones, that we often end up with little or no time for ourselves.

However, I have made a pact with myself this year that Sunday evenings, they are for me – for some much needed time by myself – for myself. Because cliché as it may be, the old saying is true – you really can’t pour from an empty cup.

Fancy indulging in a little Sunday self-care yourself? Well, then I can’t recommend these five wellness buys enough – perfect for when you need to de-stress, chill out and just show yourself some all-important self-love:

1. Kotanical Stone Essential Oil Diffuser

An oil diffuser is a great candle alternative for scenting your space safely and naturally, and I am currently obsessed with my gorgeous new ultrasonic stone diffuser from Irish brand Kotanical.

This handcrafted essential oil diffuser looks so much sleeker than any other diffuser I have ever seen, and I love how I can customise my oil blends to match my mood. In the mornings, I often diffuse some Kotanical peppermint or grapefruit oil for some energy – I love tangerine oil too.

And in the evenings, lavender oil makes me feel all relaxed and ready for bed.

€89, Kotanical.ie

2. Votary Antidote Bath and Body Oil

Yes, it is pricy, but it is also the most luxurious and high-quality bath oil I have ever used.

Votary’s Antidote Bath and Body Oil is made from a potent blend of nourishing plant oils, such as passionflower, calendula and sweet almond, which are all deeply moisturizing, as well as lavender, rose and chamomile to help de-stress and calm you for sleep.

I add a couple of caps to my Sunday night bath, and it literally feels like having paid a visit to a spa by the time I step out again 20 minutes later.

I also love that everything from Votary is 100 percent natural, vegan and cruelty-free.

€97, Votary

3. Palo Santo

If you haven’t heard of Palo Santo, you might think this sounds a little far-fetched, but the smoke from this ‘holy wood’ has been used for thousands of years by traditional South American communities for its physical and spiritual benefits.

The idea is that you light it, let the wood burn for 30 seconds, then blow out the flame and place the stick on a heat resistant surface or dish, where the highly aromatic wood will cleanse and energize your space and clear and restore energy.

Personally, I just love the ritual of it all. It makes my bathroom smell divine, and sets the mood for my relaxing Sunday night.

€12.95, Nunaia

4. Rose Quartz Gua Sha

Hand-crafted from natural rose quartz, this Gua Sha tool is designed to be used to help tone, firm and stimulate the skin.

I love using a Gua Sha tool as part of my skincare routine, and will first apply a serum, then use the Gua Sha to carefully massage my it into my skin. I have noticed a huge change in my skin since using it, and while using it at night is most common, it also feels really nice and cool on your skin first thing in the morning.

€26, The White Company

5. Suede Mule Slippers

OK, so these are technically not a wellness buy as such, but I find just by slipping into these, that Sunday evening feeling comes over me. The ultimate cosy things to be slipping your feet into post bath, these are my new favourite weekend companions.
