Study Finds That Working 3 Days a Week Is Best For Over-40s

A study has found that workers over the age of 40 perform best when they work three days (or 25 hours) a week.

According to BBC News, a group of economic researchers did brain tests on over 6,500 men and women in Australia.

They then analysed the data in the context of their working habits and came to the conclusion that those who work part-time had the best results.

It seems that working 3 days a week keeps the brain ticking over whilst avoiding the stress and fatigue associated with a full-time job.

The report revealed: “Work can be a double-edged sword, in that it can stimulate brain activity, but at the same time, long working hours and certain types of tasks can cause fatigue and stress which potentially damage cognitive functions.”

The study was taken from the Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey which is conducted by the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economics and Social Research at the University of Melbourne.

Just imagine, a 3-day working week…
