While many of us prefer a date with a family-sized bar of chocolate at that time of the month, plenty of others have more energetic pursuits on their minds.
Now an innovative LA start-up has come up with a way for women to enjoy sex during their period, without having to do a bumper load of laundry afterwards.
Since women spend almost a quarter of their lives menstruating, we’re all ears.
FLEX is a ‘virtually undetectable’ flexible disc that contours to the female body. It works by ‘creating a soft barrier to the cervix, temporarily blocking the flow of menstruation’ and is disposed after each use. Doctor-approved, it’s also BPA-free and hypoallergenic and can be worn for up to 12 hours with no leakage.
Fan Emma (30) says: “I hate feeling self-conscious about having sex when I’m on my period. It always comes at the most inconvenient time: romantic getaways, birthdays, date nights. With FLEX, I can still be swept up by the mood of these occasions. And I’ve never had spotting or leaking.”
It won’t be for everyone (in fairness, plenty of couples get along just fine without it) but we’re all for this kind of innovative, female-first design.
It’ll be widely available this autumn.
