Stephanie Davis’s reality of being a single parent struck a cord with many

Jade Hayden

Being a single parent is tough.

Being a single parent who is in the public eye ism undoubtedly, even tougher.

Not only do you have people scrutinising what you look like, what you say, and who you date, but you’ve also got people critiquing your every action as a parent too.

It’s tough and we are absolutely not envious of anybody who has to endure it.

Stephanie Davis is one of the more unfortunate mums who has to bring up her child while in the public eye.

The reality star welcomed her son, Caben, in 2016. She has been rearing him predominantly alone since ex Jeremy McConnell was charged with assault after attacking Stephanie at home.

Stephenie, however, felt that her life wasn’t transparent enough so she decided to take to Instagram to show the reality of being a single parent, worrying that people thought she had it “easy.”

First, she shared a video of herself covered in milk.

The Big Brother contestant said that a lot of the time, she is left “praying” that Caben sleeps just a while longer so she can get the washing done.

She said:

“I’ve had loads of messages saying ‘How do you do it? You seem like you’re doing this perfectly’. This is just a video to let you know, that I’m not.

“The reason I look so shockingly tired is because Caben doesn’t sleep. At all really. He’s just gone down now – for how long? I don’t know. “

Stephanie went on to admit that, like many single mums, she feels lonely a lot of the time.

She said:

“For all the single mums out there I know it’s hard. You want to cry when you’re constantly up.

“It’s ok to feel really alone too. If he does sleep some nights I’m sat there and like ‘what do I do now?’ and I feel alone.”

The mum received much praise for her honest posts, with other single mums saying that she was doing a great job.

They also thanked her for her frank depiction of motherhood.

“I’ve kept Nescafe in business for years,” joked one mum.

“Please do more of these,” said another.
