The market slows down as potential buyers aren't keen on moving in the colder months and the start of the year can bring financial uncertainty, he told Express recently. Longer, sunnier days and perkier-looking gardens make the summer months much easier for sellers as homes look more attractive. Thankfully, there are ways around this. The key, according to Elliot, is to make your rooms appear light and spacious by creating the illusion of height. "Adding the perception of height to a room is a great way to make it seem like you have a larger space. "Do this by using high-legged tables and chairs to elevate the room, as well as high-hung paintings and prints." It might also seem like common sense but during the colder months, creating a warm, cosy atmosphere in your home is also key in ensuring it piques potential buyers' interest. This one is relatively easy to achieve, according to Elliot. "Try setting the heating at an optimum temperature, covering furniture with throws and cushions, and adding rugs to laminate floors."
