Can I get a HALLELUJAH?
For years salicylic acid has been the go-to ingredient for anyone suffering from congested, acne prone skin.
Derived from willow bark, it’s one of a group of chemicals known as Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHAs), oil-soluble acids that are loved for their ability to break down the dirt and debris that can block pores and cause blackheads and whiteheads.
What’s less well known is that it’s also an excellent exfoliator, helping to slough off dead cells from the skin’s surface. Usually it’s only the water- soluble
Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs) that are hailed as heroes on this front, but BHA’s are just as valuable if you want a glowing, smooth complexion, without the need for gritty, grainy scrubs.
Some people, however, find salicylic acid drying, and that is where CeraVe’s new, salicylic acid-based SA Smoothing range is different.
CeraVe products contain three essential ceramides which help to protect the skin’s natural barrier, as well as the brand’s patented MVE technology for slow release of the active ingredients throughout the day.

There are a number of symptoms and causes for conditions that result in “rough and bumpy” skin, which can occur for several different reasons. One of the most common and chronic forms of bumpy skin can be Keratosis Pilaris (or KP), which affects 40 percent of adults and adolescents globally.
These small, harmless but unwanted bumps – sometimes referred to as “chicken skin” - are typically found on the back of the arms, thighs, back and buttocks, and are caused by a build-up of the protein keratin, which can plug the hair follicles.
