This hack heats your pyjamas without using the central heating

This hack will warm the kids’ pyjamas and it’s super affordable

Our kids have told us they’re cold at least 20 times today and it’s only 3pm.

We know it’s baltic outside, but nobody loves to complain quite as much as our kids.

A flurry of snow may look beautiful in TV shows and movies, but that’s not the reality in Ireland.

Watching Lorelai Gilmore walk through Stars Hollow in the snow sure looks pretty, but you know what isn’t nice? Walking to your kid’s school in sludgy snow and struggling to hold yourself up. Snow and Ireland are not the perfect match and we’d happily hibernate until the sub-zero temperatures go away.

Putting on your pyjamas after is one of the best feelings, especially on a day like today. We often leave mine on the radiator so I can defrost a little after being outside, but central heating is not cheap.

One thing you can do to save a few bob is wrapping your pyjamas in a hot water bottle.

You don’t need to use the central heating and you can curl up in a ball with your hot water bottle and extra warm pyjamas after.

It’s a win-win!

With temperatures set to drop even further, we’ll be making the most of this affordable hack. It might just stop the kids from complaining every five seconds.

Met Éireann has issued a low temperature and ice warning for the entire country so I’ll be staying in for the foreseeable future.

They warned: “Arctic air will bring winter hazards this coming week. Sharp to severe frosts are expected with icy stretches on roads and pavements. Some sleet or snow will occur at times too, mostly for northern areas, and especially for hills.”
