To say that wellness is a trend is nothing short of a major understatement.

And not just when it comes to food and fitness. No, wellness has grown and now means so much more, involving both our minds and the environment we live in and is surrounded by.

And the new Hjartelig collection at Ikea reflects just this – and sets out to restore peace and tranquility where we live, asking us to press the ‘pause’ button on our hectic lives and create a sense of calm at home.

The limited-edition collection, will will launch in Ikea stores across the world this April, is centred around improving your health, both physically and also mentally – allowing you to create a space where you can escape the stress of the outside world.

“Hjärtelig invites us to press the ‘pause’ button, if only for a little while, on a daily life that’s often hectic, complicated, and online. Whether to practice some yoga, tend to a plant, or simply relax amongst beautiful, natural materials, the Hjärtelig collection is about the moments [that allow us] to re-focus and revitalize ourselves,” reads a company news release.

Plants, of course, are all sorts of trendy right now, which also fit in with the wellness trends, as plants not only give us a sense of being in nature, but are also proven to help to reduce stress and even make us sleep better at night.

A must-buy for sure? The yoga mat, which is made from 100 percent cotton, and perfect for practising yoga or meditation at home.

Lead designer with Ikea, Maja Ganszyniec, recently spoke to Ideal Home, and this is what she had to say about the collection:

“With this collection we want to reach all your senses, and smell is one of the most important. That’s why scented products and candles are becoming more common in homes.’ Ganszyniec explains.

‘The new scented candles have a herbal tone with ginger, orange and patchouli that changes the atmosphere in your room. The small glass jars also have lids so that you can keep in the scent if it gets too intense. And when the candles burn out, the jar can be a decorative storage space for your jewellery.”

Rattan is another one that is proving big this year, and also feature in the Hjartelig collection.

“I chose to make the Hjärtelig headboard in woven rattan, a decorative and natural material that makes your bedroom feel warm and snug,’ says Ganszyniec. “Rattan is one of the hottest materials for furniture in 2018. Its natural beauty is set to add a laid-back, bohemian feel to interiors.”

We don’t know about you, but we are counting down to April as we speak!
