"My daughter wanted a fairy tree in her room that she could sit inside and read books, climb the branches, and also have a top sitting area." he explained. "I was kind of unprepared for the physical realities of this project."Using Disney set-design as his inspiration, the determined father got to work. Warning: Prepare to feel inadequate. First, a shot of how the room looked before dad worked his magic...
Based on this drawing, the space was about to get an eye-popping makeover.
After starting with a scale model, the first part of the project saw a huge steel frame sprout from the corner of the room...
Here it starts to take shape...
Some intricate concrete moulding followed, along with a carefully chosen hardwood floor and plenty of paint.
The windows were hand painted using watercolours
And some were even lit from the inside to create a cosy glow!
And after a few intricate finishing touches...
... the Fairy Tree was ready for its first little resident... one very happy little girl!
