Claire Byrne has shared that she was in “shock” for months after discovering that she was expecting her second child.
The presenter found out she was pregnant soon after welcoming her first child, and had doubts about welcoming another baby.
She admitted that she was never 100% sure she wanted children, but after having her first, she was certain that would be it.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Claire Byrne explained: “When I had my first child, the change was just colossal, and I don’t know how many times I asked myself, ‘How do people do this every day and not tell us what it’s like?’
“I went through such a shock in my life when my boy was born, that I thought, ‘That can never happen to me again because I’ll never survive it the second time’… I found out very quickly afterwards that I was pregnant and I was in shock for about three or four months.”

She recalled a time when she was expecting her daughter and had to carry her then 10-month-old son up the stairs, and remembered thinking ‘This is too much, this too hard.'”
Not only did the experience of childbirth put her off having more kids, comparing it to “a car crash happening inside your body”, she also admitted that being a mum is not an easy thing to do.
The now mum-of-three said she tries to get it right for her children but admitted it’s “hard” to always be the perfect mum.
She said: “I’m never getting it fully right, and that disappoints me – you know when you get cross or you forget about the birthday party. It’s hard to get it right. It’s hard to stay on top of everything.”
Claire is now mum to Patrick, Jane and Emma.
