Good news for mums planning a return to the workplace: Job ads are up 26%

The number of jobs advertised in Ireland increased by 26%

If a return to the workplace is on the cards for you in 2015, this news should brighten your day: the number of jobs advertised in Ireland in the last quarter of 2014 increased by 26% compared to the previous year.

According to recruitment agency Robert Walters Ireland, the jump is a result of increased job activity across all sectors following a year of strong economic growth.

Its European Job Index says the increase here represents the largest year on year increase in advertising volumes across Europe. France, Switzerland and Germany also saw increases of 11%, 12% and 23% respectively.

This is great news for parents looking to get back on the career ladder, especially after maternity leave. For those with senior managerial experience, there was a 33% rise in roles advertised while the number of banking and financial services roles increased 41% year-on-year.

It was also noted that this increase was not confined to Dublin, Galway, Cork, Kilkenny and Limerick, but right across the country.

Recruitment growth is expected to continue through 2015.
