This grandmother is our new hero

Graduating from college is a major achievement in life, one that you’ll never forget.

It’s a huge milestone that one grandmother recently celebrated and she’s quickly become our new hero.

Angela Davidson went back to study Animal Sciences sixty years after she first started her degree.

She recently graduated from college in December and the video of the special moment is going viral.

Angela had to drop out of college after she got pregnant but decided to return to education.

Her children and grandchildren joined her to mark the special occasion.

Speaking to GoodNewsNetwork, Angela said she has waited years for this moment.

“It was a most wonderful morning. I’ve waited years for this. The early 1960s was a very different time for women and that has been acknowledged today—I felt such a warm atmosphere,” she said.

She continued: “I’ve waited many years for this and my daughter who I was expecting when I left the course was here with me today to see me finally pick up my degree.”

Angela revealed that only six women were studying Animal Sciences when she first started at the University of Liverpool. Today, 80% of her 200 pupil class are women.

You can watch the moment Angela graduates below, but have the tissues at the ready because it’s the most moving moment.

@liverpooluni We’re not crying…you are 🥲 This time last week we were celebrating our #Classof2023 but one woman has waited nearly 60 years to graduate. 🎓 The former Animal Science student was unable to finish her course, here is her remarkable story. “Angela Davidson will get that bachelor’s degree, that is her right.” 🎉 #TeamLivUni #LivUniGrad ♬ original sound – University of Liverpool
