One-half of Brangelina is going to be producing a cool new Irish animation from Kilkenny cartoon powerhouse, Cartoon Saloon. How cool are Ireland’s creatives?
Angelina Jolie, one of the most talked-about Hollywood hotties, has been announced executive producer on The Breadwinner.
The new offering by the Oscar-winning company is just another one in a long line of successes, a few of which – ‘Puffin Rock’, ‘Song of the Sea’ and ‘The Secret of Kells’ – we adore. Angelina Jolie Pitt and her production company Jolie Pas Productions have partnered with Cartoon Saloon on The Breadwinner, directed by The Secret of Kells co-director Nora Twomey. It is adapted from the 2001 novel of the same name from antiwar activist Deborah Ellis, which is based on her experiences visiting refugee camps in geopolitically volatile Afghanistan during the 1990s.
Who knows… it might be worth a trip down to Kilkenny in the near future to scout for the world’s hottest humanitarian.
