The Government has vowed to cut childcare costs in the upcoming budget.
Speaking today, An Taoiseach promised to tackle the cost of childcare in Ireland. He said that childcare is one of the main priorities in this year's budget.
The government is aware that childcare is a big issue in Ireland and plans to alleviate this pressure in the 2023 budget.

"Childcare is a big issue."
“It’s a very significant cost pressure on families," he acknowledged.
"We’re very clear across government that the next budget has to look at affordability issues in childcare.
“That is the objective of government. We have to do it, obviously, within the fiscal framework.”
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the average parent is paying €186.84 per week for childcare.
Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman’s spokesman said he is to seek investment in the National Childcare Scheme (NCS) aimed at “substantially” reducing fees for all parents.
The rising cost of living has only made it harder for parents to cover childcare fees.
Parents have called for urgent measures to help them cope with childcare fees in Ireland.
"There is no doubt people are under enormous pressure because of what is happening."
"But what we have to do is in the context of the budget, is to reduce the pressure on people but do it in a way that’s comprehensive, as well as sustainable."
