Turns out, Prince Harry can’t propose to Meghan Markle until he has done THIS

You know; if he wants to, that is.

Rumours began to spread a few weeks back that Prince Harry was going to propose to his girlfriend Meghan Markle. While this still might be true, there is one major obstacle standing in his way.

Usually, it’s the father’s permission that future grooms have to seek, well traditionally anyway, but Harry has to get the permission of his grandmother, the Queen of England.

According to The Mirror, this tradition where members of the royal family have to seek permission from the reigning monarchs dates back to 1772 when King George wasn’t happy about who his brother was marrying.

From that point forward he brought about a new law, the Royal Marriages Act, which condemns any royal marriages that haven’t sought the appropriate permission.

The Queen hasn’t given her formal consent for Harry to marry Meghan. That’s not to say that he won’t in the future but the Queen apparently likes to trust anyone who is likely to join the family through marriage.

It took the Queen four years to even meet Kate Middleton so who knows how long it will be before she meets Meghan.
