"[I thought] I was going to be a parent who could distinguish between my genetic copycats. I was wrong. "Thanks to @mother_of_daughters dressing them as mirror images of themselves, today I was straight back to square one & spent the next 15 minutes playing a real-life guess who - calling them the wrong names only to receive blank faces & zero responses in return. "I'm strongly considering shaving one of their heads. Screw the curls - the need to identify my own children is more important."His post ended up starting a massive debate on Mumsnet, where some people began to wonder how he wouldn't have been able to know who was who. One person said:
"I get that they’re identical (and they really are visibly so) but he’s their dad! “I used to babysit identical twin girls when they were between the ages of 14 months and 2, and within a month I could reliably tell them apart.”However, many others began to defend the blogger - admitting they had found themselves in similar situations. One parent wrote:
"To be fair, I struggle to tell my daughter and son apart on some baby photos."Someone else commented:
"We have 3 [children] - all different ages, but incredibly alike - my husband struggles with baby pictures and has to check with me who is who. To be fair, he will say 'is that dc1?' and usually he is right, but not always!"
