A young mum suffered some amount of abuse online after asking what lunch she could send her husband off to work with.
The 22-year-old asked a Facebook group with over 20,000 members for some alternative lunch ideas for her partner.
However, amidst some suggestions of gourmet sambos were many comments saying that the wife should let her husband make his own lunch and that she was “not his mother.”
The Australian Daily Telegraph reported that the woman’s question irked quite a lot of people.
It read:
“I would love to hear what other mums make their hubbies for lunch and snacks throughout the work day. We are getting over sandwiches.”
In response, people said that the young mum shouldn’t make her husband anything at all.
“Your husband is a grown up and you’re not his mother,” said one user.
“I make my husband the same thing he makes me. Nothing!!” said another.
One group member also suggested that the woman’s “phrasing” of her question was “weird” referring to her use of “mums” and “hubbies.”
Eventually, some of the nastier comments started getting deleted by Facebook group moderators.
The woman then took it upon herself to explain why she had asked the question in the first place.
“(My hubbie) works in an extremely physically demanding job, he does housework, he cooks dinner every second night.
“He gets up in the middle of the night with our Bub. He is a champion.
“The least I can do is make him a bloody sandwich. I love my man, he deserves to eat lunch and we can’t afford to eat out.”
So what do we think mums – are we over making sandwiches for our hubbies?
