Mum slammed for asking if she was upper class because of all the things her children own

A mum has been slammed for asking if she was upper class because of all the things her children own.

… And the fact that she’s got a mortgage-less house worth €1,00,000 but that’s besides the point.

The unnamed mum took to parenting forum Mumsnet to ask whether users thought she was upper class because of her lifestyle and financial situation.

She said that she herself though she was middle class and then proceeded to list the things that her family have including her daughter’s pony, a five bedroom house, and access to private schools for two children.

She wrote:

“So my friends and I were discussing class issues and one friend told me that I would have ‘no idea about anything as I’m upper class’ and another strongly interrupted and mentioned that I’m working not upper class? I personally thought I was middle?”

She then added that her husband makes about €150,000 a year and that the family give about €10,000 to charity every year.

Oh, they also take two holidays, have no mortgage, and send their kids to grammar school.

But no, they’re not boasting.

Others didn’t see it that way though and instead of simply telling the woman what class she was (it’s apparently middle, if we’re going there), they simply slammed her for bragging.

“What does it matter what class you are? All that just makes you sound a pretentious twat,” said one person.

“Not terribly classy boasting on and on about having LOADZA MONEY!” said someone else.

“Very vulgar to talk about class,” said another.

Not a great day for the parish, in fairness to her.
