Jesus.

If you’re not a fan of horror films, chances are you won’t like it very much when you’re forced to watch one against your will.

It can be a scary, uncomfortable, and even traumatic experience… depending on how scary the movie is.

Now imagine how you’d feel if the movie in question had been dubbed the scariest film to come out in years.

Oh, and imagine if you were a child watching it.

Yeah, pretty grim.

This unfortunate occurrence happened recently at a cinema in Australia when parents who had taken their children to see Peter Rabbit were shocked, appalled, and pretty terrified when a trailer for Hereditary came on the screen.

In case you weren’t aware, Peter Rabbit is a nice children’s movie about rabbits and other animals… and Hereditary is a film about some scary shit.

Some really scary shit.

Anyway, the  Sydney Morning Herald reports that the Event Cinema in Innaloo accidentally showed some of the trailer and people were downright terrified.

“It was dreadful,” said one person. “Very quickly you could tell this was not a kid’s film.”

“Parents were yelling at the projectionist to stop, covering their kids’ eyes and ears.

“A few went out to get a staff member but she was overwhelmed and didn’t really know what to do. Some parents fled the cinema with their kids in tow.”

Intense.

The cinema eventually turned the trailer off, apologised to the parents, and offered them some free tickets to a movie of their choice.

Hereditary probably won’t be it.
