Indoor Camping Is The Perfect Rainy Day Activity

It's possible we get more fun out of building forts than our kids do

Sophie White

Building forts is one of our fondest childhood memories… from last week (in our house we never really grew out of the indoor camping).

We built an epic fort out of cushions from the couch, blankets and a clothes horse. Fort-building is one of those things you can take to amazing levels of invention and ingenuity. Or you can just throw a sheet over an armchair and add a few cushions. There’re great ideas over here on building the ultimate fort, but we like to focus on the most important thing about camping, the snacks. When camping indoors it’s not advisable to roast marshmallows though we may have tried with a candle at some stage. This awesome smores recipe can be made in the oven and enjoyed under canvas in the comfort of your living room.

10 minute Indoor S’mores

Ingredients:

200g cracker style biscuits (you want a biscuit that is sturdy and will be up to dipping, like Animal Crackers or Rich Teas)

1 cup chocolate chips

1 1/2 cup mini marshmallows

1/4 cup additional chocolate chips

1 teaspoon coconut oil

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 180°0 or Gas 4. Place the biscuits into an oven-proof cast iron pan. Top with the chocolate and arrange the marshmallows on top. Bake for 6-8 minutes until the marshmallows are golden and gooey. Melt the additional chocolate with the coconut oil and drizzle over the top.
