Late Notes: This dad has a creative way of getting his kids to school on time

HerFamily

Since becoming a mum, I am perpetually late.

In fact, it never ceases to amaze me how having just one small child can cause so much tardiness every day, but I can’t imagine the bedlam that must take place in this family’s household each morning.

So fed up with his kids waking up late or taking too long to get ready for school (despite his best efforts to get them out the door on time), dad-of-five, Seth King from Utah decided to write creative excuse notes to teach his tardy offspring a lesson.

Describing the notes as a mixture of public shaming and parental love, he told Today, “I was getting bored with writing the same old excuse note, and it got to a point where I also wanted my kids to understand the shame they should be feeling for being tardy and putting on-time attendance at their school as a second-tier priority.”

What a great idea. While we’re unsure whether or not Seth’s notes have improved his brood’s timekeeping, he has been sharing his creativity on an Instagram account called latenotes, for everyone to see. Here are just a few of our favourites…
