‘Mum Shaming’: Parent blogger works to put an end to the judgement

Sive O'Brien

If you’ve ever felt judged for the decisions you’ve made since becoming a parent, you’re not alone.

So fed up with the ‘mum shaming’ she has encountered since having children, a parent blogger in the US has started a campaign in an attempt to put an end to the judgement.

Julie Maida, who blogs at Next Life No Kids, is asking people to make a #mommitment and sign an online petition to show kindness, compassion and understanding to other mums, instead of judgment.

She wrote on YouTube, “We’re all just doing the best we can as moms and hoping it’s enough. ALL moms deserve support and compassion. We don’t always know what another mom is going through, and judgment and shame can be damaging to moms who suffer in silence. No More Mom Shaming!!! #mommitment.”

The petition has an aim of 1,000 signatures. To join the movement, watch the video below, then write your own note and post a pic of it to social media with the hashtag #mommitment.
