What to wear to work, as trending for SS16

Katie Mythen-Lynch

With most of our time spent working, it is impossible to ignore the importance of formal clothing, clothing suitable for meetings, be they in the office or not, and making the right impressions.

The resort 2016 collections presented a collage of extremely functional pieces that can be incorporated into every day life.

Although most collections were styled with signature trademarks and quirks, when stripped back, formal pieces were key to the new season, from shift dresses and trousers suits to co-ordinating twin sets.

Take your inspiration from the eye candy styling and beautiful models but take your fashion guidance from key elements that will not only be so translatable from a high street point of view but from a wearable one too.

We asked the fashion-forward folk at maven46.com for their breakdown…

Pussy bow blouses

Nothing quite says sophisticated like a pussy bow blouse; a borrowed staple of the ’70s, this form of blouse has had a new lease of life. Add under suit jackets, tucked inside pencil skirts and high waisted wide leg trousers for instant easy to achieve chic-dom.

Co-ords

Forget clashing or colour pairing, matchy matchy has never been so popular this season from skirts to trousers suit combinations. Another wonderfully simple styling method that doesn’t require too much thought is the reason why co-ords for workwear are game, set and match.
