Mum left ‘livid’ with what mother-in-law did after her ‘traumatic’ birth via C-section

A mum has been left “livid” with her mother-in-law after her “traumatic” birth via C-section.

However, it wasn’t what the mother-in-law did during the birth that made the new mum angry… but what she did after.

The unknown mother took to Mumsnet to explain that the midwife let her mother-in-law come into her room and hold her newborn baby without her consent.

And because the mum had not yet woken up from surgery, that meant that her mother-in-law got to hold her baby before her.

What’s more, the mother-in-law apparently gained access to the ward using her own card as an NHS doctor.

The Sun reports that the mum wrote:

“I’m livid that the midwives allowed her to be there without asking me and I’m angry that (my husband) didn’t advocate for me more too. He should have told her not to come or to wait outside.

“I’m actually in tears this morning thinking about it all again and I’m so angry and upset still.”

The woman also added that her mother-in-law was given “personal details” about the birth that she otherwise would not have shared with her.

Mumsnet users were very sympathetic towards the woman, saying that it was a “violation” for her mother-in-law to have been able to do this.

“I’m sorry,” said one user. “You are completely justified in feeling violated and angry. You’re also justified in feeling unsupported and let down by your husband.”

“What she did was not OK and you expect an apology,” said another.
