What an incredible event!
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation will be the official charity partner for Cannonball 2023.
This week, Irish rugby star Robbie Henshaw announced the news standing alongside a rare Lamborghini Diablo, James Garrahan, 4, from Drumcondra (in his very own Cannonball supercar), and Cannonball founder Alan Bannon.
Cannonball, which takes place this year from September 15th-17th across Ireland, has already raised €1,538,602 for Irish charities.
The Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation is an Irish children’s charity that funds and delivers respite support, in-home nursing care, and end-of-life care for children from birth to six years of age who have highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions.
The charity’s mission is to enable parents to care for their child or children at home.
Presently, there are upwards of 400 children under the care of Jack and Jill in Ireland.
Head of Fundraising at the Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation, Alie Sheridan, says the support from crews working with Cannonball will assist the foundation in raising funds and awareness at a time when the demand for their services is ‘higher than ever.’
“That sense of community and excitement around Cannonball 2023 is a real boost for our care community and the 400 children our nurses support, right across the country.
“Reminding them, that they don’t walk this care journey alone. Specifically, along the Cannonball 7 county route this year, there are 216 families currently being supported by Jack and Jill through hundreds of local nurses, carers, and volunteers who keep our service going. ”
Every donation of €18 will help support one hour of home nursing care for a local child and family.
Those attending the Cannonball event will have the opportunity to marvel at the world’s most prestigious and sought-after supercars.
Cars on display will include Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, Porsche, Aston Martin, and Maserati.
Annually, the Cannonball event brings in over 200,000 spectators with free family festivals all over Ireland.
Aside from the cars, there will also be plenty of other fun-filled activities for families to enjoy, such as Brazilian dancers, giant screens, music and fanfare, and live DJs, bands, and festivals in host towns.
Adding to the festivities, Cannonballers and celebrities will dress in colourful costumes.
You can expect sightings from Spiderman, Star Wars characters, Cat Woman, Wonder Woman, Charlie’s Angels, Batman, the Joker, and many more.
The fun doesn’t stop there, as this year Cannonball organisers are asking spectators to dress up in fancy dress, with prizes being awarded for the best dressed.
Cannonball will set up shop in Malahide, Cavan, Ballina, Salthill, Limerick City, Fota Island, Co. Cork, and finish up in Kilkenny City over the course of the weekend.
