The more family days out, the better.

Summer has the potential to be endless amounts of fun for the little ones. But with so much time to feel, and keep energetic bundles of energy occupied, we love when the opportunity to do something fun together pops up.

Well, from Thursday June 14 to Sunday June 17, Taste of Dublin returns to the Iveagh Gardens, and it’s set to be the most exciting year yet, showcasing the greatest in Irish food and drink.

Best of all, June 17 is Father’s Day, so it might just be the perfect day time outing to celebrate and appreciate dad. There’s plenty there for dad to enjoy, but while roaming about, grabbing nibbles and indulging in wine and beer tastings is super fun for us adults, there’s lots in store for the kids too.

Look out for games (at the Family Afternoon, with Fruit Shoot), face painting and storytelling. And if your child is under the age of 10 – they get in for free!

We’d also recommend packing a picnic basket (and suncream) as there’s plenty of green space to dine with the family.

Tipped to be one of this year’s highlights is The Big Green Egg. Here, the famous egg-shaped cooker (from Alfresco, Glasthule) will help create beautifully cooked meats, stir frys, pizzas, stews and even yummy deserts, by their top chefs.

The kids will undoubtedly find plenty of tasty, healthy food, but kids could definitely enjoy The Lazy Chef – Simon Lamont and his brand-new ‘The Lazy Basics’ experience. Here, we’ll learn all about handy cooking hacks in under 20 minutes, including how to make sourdough, butter, and all about “weird vegetables and what we can do with them.” Anything to get the kids eating more veg, right?

Tickets start from €15, family tickets start from €39 (available for Saturday and Sunday afternoon only) while individually, the kids will cost you €12.50. For more info. check out www.tasteofdublin.ie and find the full schedule of events here.
