Meghan Markle is breaking ANOTHER royal tradition this Christmas

It's a big 'un.

Might as well throw the rule book out at this stage, lads.

Since it was revealed way back when that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were dating and subsequently set to marry, the pair have pretty much been doing their own thing when it comes to royal engagements.

Well, to an extent.

Meghan gave a lengthy interview to Vanity Fair about her’s and Harry’s relationship.

The couple are engaged to marry on a weekend as opposed to a weekday.

The list goes on.

Now, it seems that Meghan is going to be breaking royal tradition yet again because she has been invited to spend Christmas with the Queen.

See – we told you it was a big ‘un.

US Weekly has reported that the Suits actress is going to spend some of the festive holiday with the Queen as Harry’s fiancée.

Generally, only spouses are permitted to spend Christmas with the Queen so it’s clear that the rules have been very much broken in this instance.

An insider told the publication that this is “a first” for the family.

“Given that Meghan doesn’t have family in the U.K., it’s only right that she spends Christmas with Harry and his,” they said.

“Harry asked the queen for permission last month and she is delighted to have Harry bring his fiancée.

“It is a family occasion, after all, and Meghan is very much family now.”

A few weeks back, it was reported that the Queen had invited Meghan and her mum to spend Christmas herself, but now that the actress is officially set to marry into the family, the invitation really is playing away from what the royal family are used to.

Meghan previously spoke very highly of the Queen during her first interview with Harry following the announcement of their engagement.

She said that she had an “incredible respect” for her.

“To be able to meet her through his lens, not just with his honour and respect for her as the monarch, but the love that he has for her as his grandmother, all of those layers have been so important for me.

“So that when I met her, I had such a deep understanding and of course incredible respect for being able to have that time with her.”

It is believed that Meghan will only make a small appearance during the festivities, however, it is possible that she will stick around for the full three days in Sandringham.
