Time to give back: 3 ways to get in touch with your charitable side

HerFamily

We’re happy. We are. But we’re always looking for new ways to bring a little extra happiness into our lives. Studies have shown that one of the best way to achieve true happiness is to do nice things for others.

And we’re all familiar with that natural high that comes with doing something genuinely kind for someone else. So, we’ve rounded-up three simple ways to get you in touch with your charitable side:

1. Spring clean for yourself and for others

Set aside a couple of hours, arm yourself with bin bags, and throw open those wardrobes. Give away any clothes you, your other half or your little ones have stopped wearing. Be ruthless! Your forgotten treasures can be someone else’s joy.

2. Pick a charity close to your heart and get involved

What cause are you particularly passionate about? Think about it. There must be somebody you know who has been touched by a cause. Choose one that feels right for your beliefs and your experiences. Now, do something about it. Find out what charitable organisations or car boot sales in your area, and what you can do to get in the mix. Whether it’s lending a helping hand to an elderly neighbour, or giving some of your time once a week – offer your services, volunteer and get involved.

3. Make a donation to Arthritis Ireland
