The Big Day is almost here.

And if you are in charge of the dinner, you might already have started googling how to cook the perfectly juicy turkey. Luckily, we recently came across this tip by Food and Wine’s Culinary Director, Justin Chapple, who has just revealed his trick to achieving the perfect turkey every time.

All you need, apparently, is ONE little ingredient – and the rest, as they say, is plain sailing.

According to Chapple, the key ingredient to getting your turkey to stay juicy and delicious is mayonnaise. Yep, you read that right – mayonnaise. And fear not if you are no fan of the creamy condiment, because according to the food experts, the mayonnaise will have no impact on the taste of the turkey.

How it works

Ready to cook the best turkey of your life? Here is what you need to do: Loosen the skin on the turkey breasts and thighs. Then spread the mayonnaise on top and under the skin. According to Food and Wine, Chapple uses mayonnaise because ‘when you cover your turkey with mayonnaise, it bastes it during the roasting process’. And this in turn helps to keep ‘the meat moist and tender’. Tell us – are your going to try this tip come Christmas Day?
