When I first embarked on breastfeeding, I didn’t give much thought to what clothes would work best with breast.
As a result, the first time I gave the baby a feed al fresco I wore a button-down shirt thinking this would provide easy access and then realised that the shirt kind of demanded I take the whole boob out. Not the coverage I had expected.
My go-to style hack for nursing became dark vests; I wore them under every top which meant I could simply pull up the top and flip down the vest – et voila, lunch on-the-go without having to expose my sad belly (which I was really self-conscious about) to passersby. The only downside was that dresses (which I love to wear) were kind of off the menu. At the time, I didn’t realise that there is a world of really simple, nice nursing dresses with clever hidden openings for easy nursing, which are not too expensive. And most of them double up as maternity wear so they are dual purpose. Bonus.
