These Two Nappy Bag Staples Will Be Your New Go-To Beauty Buys

Trine Jensen-Burke

If you are a mum, chances are vast that you have a little jar of Sudocrem or a tub of Vaseline  lurking somewhere in the back of your bathroom cabinets or in a drawer somewhere in your house.

Staples also in most parents’ nappy bags, Sudocrem will clear up those red-raw baby bums in no time, and we bet you have saved your chapped lips a few times with some Vaseline, but did you know there are also a whole host of other miracle uses hidden away in these little tubs?

Intrigued?

Here are some other uses for Sudocrem and Vaseline you probably had never thought of before:

1. Use as face mask

Spread Sudocrem in a thin layer over your face once a week, especially if you are prone to breakouts, as the antibacterial properties help protect your skin from further impurities. Leave it on for a couple of hours or overnight even for maximum effect.

2. Fix your ragged cuticles

No time for a mani? Just rub some Vaseline into those cuticles, and watch them go from scruffy to soft in no-time.

3. Minimise spots

Step away from the toothpaste. When it comes to quickly getting rid of spots, both Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and the TOWIE girls are said to be fans of Sudocrem. Just apply a small bit directly to your breakout, and watch as it reduces both the size and redness of your spot.

4. Soothe insect bites

Simply dab on for relief from itching…

5. Heal from sunburn

The best solution (obvs!) is to not get burnt by the sun, but if you have been, try gently rubbing a little Sudocrem into the sore area to speed up the skin’s recovery.

6. Remove your eye makeup
If you ever run out of your normal eye-makeup remover, Vaseline on cotton wool will always do the trick.

7. Soothe your skin after shaving or plucking

Sudocrem is apparently fab for reducing redness and soothing the sore skin that comes with plucking your eyebrows or even shaving your legs.

8. Avoid chafing

If you dread wearing dresses or skirts when it is hot out due to chafing  (which can actually be so, so sore!), just apply a little Sudocrem to the inside of your thighs, and boom; problem gone.

9. Heal your heels

Heels can get dry and cracked from being on your feet all day, especially now during sandal season. But a little bit of Vaseline will sort them out in  flash. Just rub some on your feet and heels at night, pop on some cotton socks, go to bed and voila; wake up so baby-soft toes.

10. Avoid staining your skin with hair-dye

If you DIY it when it comes to your hair colour, put a little Sudocrem around your hairline before you get going, and you’ll avoid your skin also getting a new colour.
