American toy giant Toys ‘R Us is expected to open its first stores in Ireland within weeks after it was revealed the chain plans to open up to six outlets here during 2015.
According to reports, a franchisee has earmarked a number of suitable stores in Dublin and elsewhere in the country.
The toy and babycare retailer, founded in 1948, is headquartered in New Jersey and operates more than 871 Toys “R” Us and Babies “R” Us stores in the United States, more than 730 international stores and over 230 licensed stores in 36 countries.
Meanwhile Irish toy and nursery accessory specialists Smyths Toys have been expanding their operation in the UK, where it has opened more than 50 stores.
