CONFIRMED: Zika Virus DOES Cause Birth Defects

Health experts have confirmed that there is enough evidence to link Zika virus in pregnant women to the birth defect microcephaly in newborn infants. 

According to Reuters, it is hoped this discovery will refocus attention on efforts to stop infections.

“There isn’t any doubt that Zika causes microcephaly,” Dr. Tom Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), told reporters.

“Never before in history has there been a situation where a bite from a mosquito can result in a devastating malformation,”
