9 things we go through when hitting the town after becoming a mum

HerFamily

Oh, you have SO MUCH catching up to do.

It’s your first night out on the town after becoming a mum. Time to reclaim your sense of self; get your identity back and finally change into something other than tracksuit pants.

You may discover some of the following applies...

1. A pair of Spanx is a new mum’s BFF.

2. Your little black dress is more little than you remembered. You manage to it zip up and accept the compromise involved is to remain standing perfectly still for the evening.

3. Your beloved ‘car-to-bar’ shoes don’t seem to fit. You force your expanded feet into them anyway, walking like a poodle on hot coals.

4. You will probably call home ‘just to check up’ before the taxi reaches the end of your street.

5. Dizzy with the freedom of being out for the night, you guzzle your first couple of glasses. Then you’re just dizzy.

6. You are now one of those people who holds friends hostage while you scroll through several hundreds photos of your baby changing expression.

7. You hit a few conversational cul de sacs as you discover the nuances of Peppa Pig are an acquired taste.

8. You get chatting to a woman you don’t know and bond over dairy intolerance and generic nappy options. She happily looks at your photos and shows you hers. You plan a playdate.

9. You’re suddenly exhausted and you’ve only been out for an hour. Oh and you really miss your baby. You order a taxi and sneak out a side door.
