Breastfeeding is natural, good for bonding, and great for your baby’s health – this we know.
It’s also a beautiful thing, which is why it’s always a bit confusing when we hear stories of women being asked to leave restaurants or thrown out of pubs or judged silently for feeding their children.
The stigma around breastfeeding has dropped considerably over the past few years.
Yet, those who see the practice as something to be hidden away still exist.
Vincent Ferrané is not one of those people.
A photographer from France, Ferrané is actually a pretty big advocate for breastfeeding – so much so he’s launched a photography project about it called ‘Milky Way.’
Ferrané’s ‘Milky Way’ is a series depicting his wife as she breastfeeds the couple’s child.
It is described as:
“… everyday moments, seized with harshness, without bitterness, emerges the force of exchanges between two beings and the milk becomes, as in the Greek legend of the Milky Way, the vector of a world under construction.”
Beautiful.
