Australian pregnancy, newborn, birth and nursing mother photographer, Melissa Jean Wilbraham had her hard-earned Instagram account with over 18,000 followers disabled. On the first day of World Breastfeeding week… We kid you not!
According to Daily Mail Australia, when she tried to log on to her account, it said, “Your account has been deleted for not following our terms. We’re unable to restore accounts that are deleted for these types of violations.”
The terms and conditions of Instagram are that people must not post “violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic or sexually suggestive photos or other content.”
Wilbraham is a pioneer when it comes to birth and newborn photography, she pushes the boundaries and has enormous following all over the world for her celebration and really quite breathtaking imagery of breastfeeding and birth. When she announced her devastating news on her own Facebook page, it’s easy to see why she received an overwhelming response from fans and former clients.
“How ironic that the very day ‘World Breastfeeding Week’ began, my business was removed from Instagram. There will always be sad humans who report my images, but I will NEVER let this stop me celebrating & normalizing the miracle of life [heart emoticon] #bringbackmelissajeanbabies #bringbackmelissajean.”
Instagram issued an apology and reinstated the page, which ironically now has 45,000 followers. She’s just a little bit of a legend in our eyes, and not just for her raw, real photography, but for her sense of humour too. We wish she could pop over to us in Ireland some day and take a few snaps. Officially our fave shutterbug of-the-moment. Here are a few of our favourite photographs:

A newborn baby has only three demands ? They are warmth in the arms of its mother, food from her breasts, and security in the knowledge of her presence. Breastfeeding satisfies all three ✔️✔️✔️ Grantly Dick-Read A photo posted by Melissa Jean (@melissajeanbabies) on
