Do you suffer from ‘mummy guilt’? Anna Daly says she knows how to combat it

mummy guilt

Mummy guilt.

Probably one of the worst kinds of guilt there is.

Go out for a few drinks? Feel guilty. Order takeaway instead of making a home cooked meal? Feel guilty. Have a bit of a lie in instead of getting up to go to the park at 8am? Feel guilty.

We shouldn’t, and yet we do.

TV3’s Anna Daly has said she’s found a way to ensure her mummy guilt isn’t so intense though and we’d be inclined to take her advice.

She told the Irish Mirror that it’s all about balance… and about forgetting.

She said:

“I used to feel mum guilt more than I do now.

“I think when I’m in work, I’m in work and I kind of, no offence to my kids who I absolutely adore, but I kind of forget about them. And you put your work hat on.”

Daly went on to say that she doesn’t know if anybody can truly get that balance right, but all anyone can do is try.

She went on:

“There’s a bit of juggling between home and work and kids and family stuff. But for now it’s working very well. I’ve a husband who is very tolerant of my weekend gig. You’d need it.

“Ireland AM was one phase of my life. The weekends are different, because I work four days and I think that’s moving closer to the balance. If anybody gets the balance right, I don’t know.”

Daly has three children with husband, Ben.
