It’s hard to believe summer is almost over, but back-to-school season is just around the corner.

Parents have been busy purchasing new uniforms, stationery, and trying to get their kids back into a good sleeping routine.

One mum has issued a warning ahead of the new school term. She explained that many parents accidentally reveal too much about their children’s lives through their first-day-of-school photos.

It’s a photo we all take but a mum has stressed how important it is not to share them online.

If you are going to post a photo of your child’s first day back at school then blur out their uniform crest.

Cybersecurity specialist Cathy Pedrayes warned parents about the mistake.

@cathypedrayes ⬇️ Share your public transit stories! Train, subway, bus, plane… I’m sure you’ve seen some WEIRD stuff. I’ve had people touch me, fall asleep on me, bathe… but I think one of the most bizarre was a guy who started lighting matches and flicking them all over the train. Obviously I switched cars BUT it did become part of a character I used in an improv class so that’s positive! #publictransit #nyc #philly #dc #dcf#safetytips#staysafetayaware #travelingalone #crimeprevention #subwaystories ♬ Quirky – Oleg Kirilkov

“If it just says the first day, that’s not terrible, but some of them have the child’s name, teacher’s name, school, favorite sports or activities and maybe you don’t want a bunch of strangers knowing that,” she said.

The mum explained that sharing photos like this can make your children vulnerable.

“When kids are younger, if you’re posting their school uniform or sports uniform, you’re revealing where your kids are most days of the year,” she said.

“It’s just extra vulnerable information,” she warned.

Cathy stressed that you cannot be too careful when it comes to your child’s safety online.
