When you see the red cheeks, you know teething is coming.

There’s no pain more constant or intense than a toothache, so when babies are going through their teething phases, we can all sympathise, despite how loud it can be.

Going through all the remedies that claim to soothe your baby’s teething gums and still being at a loss can be just as painful for you as a parent.

However, a paediatrician expert has shared some of her expert tips for getting your little one through this phase of their lives as pain-free as possible.

Teething happens when babies teeth cut through their gums, and it can often seep into nighttime restlessness and disturbance if it’s particularly painful for them.

It usually starts between four and seven months old, but it’s also not uncommon for young children to experience teething before or after this timeframe.

Dr. Lexi Frydenberg, who works with antenatal, postnatal, and parenting experts ‘Parents You’ve Got This’, says the one sure solution to combatting teething pain or irritability is, well, chewing.

Whether it’s on cold teething rings, a toothbrush, a dummy, a cold face washer—the list is endless—as long as your baby is getting to press their gums against something, it’s relieving their pain.

Dr. Frydenberg also recommends giving your baby something soft and easy to digest to eat during this time.

This is so they can get the nutrients they need without causing any struggle or additional pain.

Anything from yoghurt to mashed veggies, as long as its texture is soft, will help keep your baby healthy while they battle the terrors of teething.
