Hair hacks for those mornings when you don’t have the time

HerFamily

The morning can be a stressful time for parents – there are lunches to make, kids to dress and places to go.

The last thing you want to have to think about is finding time to make yourself presentable before you go out the door.

Well, we’ve got you covered, here are some super simple hair hacks for those days when you just don’t have the time (or don’t really care).

Sleep with your hair in a bun

We only found this one out recently but we love it. Basically, sleeping with your hair in a bun has a lot of benefits. Not only does it combat frizz but it also adds texture and volume. You can then keep it in the bun or let it down and rock an effortless look.

Apply dry shampoo the night before

Let’s face it, we only wash our hair when we actually have to. However this is a nifty way to get around even that. Apply dry shampoo the night before until your hair feels chalky. All you have to do the next morning is style it.

Braid your hair before you go to bed

Waves in your hair have never been so easy. Towel dry your hair after a shower and then braid it in as many sections as you like (the more sections, the more waves you will have). Apply a bit of hairspray in the morning and you are good to go!

Backcombing

We don’t know how many times we’ve woken up having not washed our hair and with no time to spare. That’s where backcombing and the classic ponytail comes in. Backcomb the front section of your hair and then fix all your locks into a high ponytail. Sorted.

Half-washing

If you manage to get the kids to the kitchen table for breakfast and have two minutes, wash your fringe or the front section of your mane in the sink. Give it a quick dry and tie it up in a style of your choice. It’ll look washed without the hassle.

Clip it up

Rushed mornings are what hair clips were made for. You can either use grips to create a quick up-do, such as a bun, or you can fire your hair up into a butterfly clip. Nobody will even notice that you haven’t combed it.

Feeling hat, hat, hat

When all else fails and there’s no time to do anything with your tresses, get your favourite hat out of the wardrobe and fire it on. Besides, you can only really get away with this during the colder months – you may as well make it work to your advantage.
