'I'll take these pounds': Chrissy Teigen just made the best point about baby weight

“Just coming to terms with my new normal.”

In an age when celebrity mums seem to ‘snap back’ to their pre-pregnancy selves straight away, new mums can feel under pressure look like a gazelle, all lean and willowy, weeks after giving birth.

Of course, photos posted online are deceiving and we should be wary of comparing ourselves to impossible ideals – but that can be hard to remember that when your old jeans have stopped fitting.

That’s why it’s so refreshing to hear one of our favourite famous mums talk about why she’s happy with some extra weight after bringing new life into the world.

Chrissy Teigen has said that being heavier is her new normal after welcoming her second child Miles ten months ago.

“Basically I am 20 pounds heavier than I was before Miles,” she wrote on Twitter.

“He’s 10 months old, I never lost the last bit because I just love food too much.

“Just coming to terms with my new normal, when I had this certain number for so long!”

Continuing, she said that she was at her lowest weight when she struggled mentally after welcoming her first child, Luna, in 2016.

“The thinnest I’ve ever been was right after Luna . . . postpartum depression,” she said.

“I’ll take these pounds and this feeling!”

Chrissy previously opened up about her postnatal depression, saying she had no energy and felt unable to leave the house.

“How can I feel this way when everything is so great?,” she wrote in Glamour in 2017.

“I’ve had a hard time coming to terms with that, and I hesitated to even talk about this, as everything becomes such a ‘thing’.”
