Headache? Get rid of it fast (without drugs)

The kids are fighting over who gets the remote control, the hubby is dragging the chairs across the dining room floor (in advance of the outlaws pending arrival), and you might just have crossed that red wine line last night. Your head is pounding. 

Here’s how to get rid of it:

1. Using water

  • Fill the sink halfway with ice cold water and immerse your hands fully. The waterline should rest at your wrist.
  • Relax the muscles for 10 seconds and then begin to clench your fists in and out repeatedly for one minute.
  • When the pain subsides take your hands out.

2. Using relaxation

  • Lie down comfortably and close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths.
  • Tense all the muscles in your face – eyes, nose, lips, cheeks, jaw for five seconds and then relax.
  • Move through all your muscle groups: hands, arms, shoulders, back, stomach, hips and buttocks, thighs, feet and toes.
  • When the pain subsides remain resting for ten minutes.
