Suzie O’Neill: The 5 minute makeup routine perfect for all busy mums on the go

I have little to no time to get ready in the morning.

Between getting the kids dressed and ready and making sure everything is in the nappy bag or school bag before we head out the door I’ve barely time to put a brush through my hair.

On the days I do have a few minutes to apply to makeup I tend to stick to the very basics and apparently that’s all you need.

According to make up expert and mum of two Suzie O’Neill keeping your routine down to the essentials will help you create a fresh makeup look in just five minutes.

Speaking about her five-minute morning time makeup routine Suzie says;

“Being a working Mum-of-two, I have a super quick and effective make-up routine down to a T! I often have less than 5 minutes to get myself ready, so I have top five tips that I live by that give me a little confidence boost in the morning before focusing on the kids!”

If you would like to achieve a flawless face in a flash every morning, here are Suzie’s top tips.

Tip One – SPF

Suzie recommends using a high-quality SPF on your face, neck, chest, arms and hands. Even if it’s overcast. A lot of women avoid this step but SPF is the best anti-ageing product you can have in your beauty regime!

I personally love CeraVe’s Facial Moisturising Lotion which SPF 25 and is the perfect size for throwing in your handbag.

Tip Two – Concealer is your best friend

Lack of sleep and non-stop activities can result in dark circles under the eyes. Use high quality and lightweight concealer to cover these areas but steer clear of heavy formulas as they will only accentuate the bags! A great concealer will even out the skin tone and ensure your skin stays fresh, dewy and youthful-looking.

Concealer is usually the first makeup product I reach for as my skin is very translucent. Different concealers will suit different skin types but I find Isadora’s Light-Up Concealer fantastic.

Tip Three – Define those brows

Eyebrows are underestimated but can totally transform how we look and frame our face! Just by lightly defining your brows, you can give yourself a mini facelift and take years off yourself! Choose a pencil with cool tones for the most natural finish.

I basically have no eyebrows if I don’t draw mine on in the morning so this is a step I’m all too familiar with. I use a couple of different eyebrow fillers depending on how much time I have to get ready but you can’t go wrong with Carter Beauty’s eyebrow pencils for quick and easy brow definition.

Tip Four – Warm your face

When we are tired we tend to look pale and lacklustre. A good bronzer is one of my favourite products in my kit when sleep deprivation rears its ugly head!

Apply a matte bronzer like Rimmel Sun Shimmer in Light matte in a sweeping motion across the cheeks, the bridge of the nose and sides of your forehead for the most natural glow.

Tip Five – Fake a healthy glow

Fresh, dewy skin is the key to a beautiful and youthful appearance! Enhance your natural radiance with the Ayu Radiant Skin Cream, a pink pearl cream that will give the skin a smoothing and youthful glow.

Suzie says she loves to use it on the top of her cheekbones and bridge of her nose to fake a full night’s sleep. Great tip!
