Our mothers always told us never to leave the house without eating breakfast and it seems that it is a lesson to pass down through the generations.

A new study has found that children who eat a healthy breakfast perform better in school. In fact, they do twice as well in tests as those who start classes on am empty stomach.

According to The Independent, Cardiff University looked at the eating habits and educational performance of 5,000 children aged between nine and 11.

Nutritionists have always argued that eating breakfast helps children to concentrate more in school.

Unfortunately for kids, eating products that are high in sugar was not found to have a positive effect on academic achievements.

And there our mums were always sending us into a test with a bag of milk chocolate buttons – guess they weren’t right about everything!
